On Saturday February 28th, 1998 The RV presented Ninja Tune Recording Artist Mix Master Morris at Fiske Planetarium on the CU Boulder Campus, Colorado USA. Parabola
(a nu-ambient expedition in sound) "No wonder Radio 1's John Peel named him as his 'natural successor' ..." Mix Master Morris is known to many as the hardest working ambient DJ in the world. Producing and presenting some of the most progressive sounds in modern electronic music , he has played his marathon soundscapes in more than 30 countries at a bizarre selection of events. His eclectic sets will vacillate from drum and bass to beatless deep listening music to ambient house and electro with a little jazz, world music and minimalism woven throughout to create a dreamy yet stimulating atmosphere. Morris recently toured Japan, including festivals on the sacred Mt Fuji. In Germany he recorded two deep listening Dreamfish albums with Frankfurt electroguru Pete Namlook (and a third might be on the way?). The Mix Master,as the Irresistible Force, has released two classic albums (Flying High and Global Chillage)from 1992-1995. Both made the indie top 5 and were released in the US (Astralwerks, Instinct) and Japan (Sony). He has also mixed CDs for Virgin (The Morning After; featuring Spring Heel Jack, Space Time Continuum, Photek and others) and a classic ambient mix for Mixmag that he shared with Alex Patterson of the Orb. Morris has toured and opened shows for the Prodigy , Chemical Brothers, Jamiroquai, Stereolab and the Orb. For the last three years Morris has had a featured page in Mixmag, with a chance to champion underground music and chillout vibes. Nowadays he is recognized as a leading critic of major label electronic music. Many of the top electronic acts have had their first press coverage courtesy of the mix master, eg Aphex Twin, Ken Ishii, Black Dog, Orbital, Atom Heart, Bedouin Ascent and more recently T Power, Squarepusher, Dot Records and Jimpster. No wonder Radio 1's John Peel named him as his 'natural successor' ... After a break from recording Morris signed to Ninja Tune, a UK multimedia collective and world renowned record label, where he is at now, soon to release a new full length album. A CD entitled 'Quiet Logic' which he recorded with SF's Jonah Sharp (Spacetime Continuum) in Tokyo (at the YMO studio) is due out on Daisyworld Records Feb 14th. Mix Master Morris performed a four hour set in the Fiske Planetarium featuring their Carl Zeiss star projector, video projection, atmospheric lighting f/x and film projections by Boulder based film artist Joel Haertling. Dr. Decent(RV) hosted and set the stage. Contact Info:
