RadioValve [Get Real Player]
Turn It On!

Recommended Software

Netscape Communicator

RealAudio G2

Qsound iQ

RadioValve uses the Real Audio Streaming Audio format. All you need is a 28.8 (or faster) modem if you are a dial-up Internet user or a high-speed connection through your office or school if you are connected directly to a network on the Internet.

Next, you must have already downloaded and installed the latest version of the "RealPlayer" (previously known as the Real Audio Player), which is available FREE for download from RealNetworks. Be sure that the program is installed after you've downloaded it. If it does not automatically install, then you may need to look on your local hard drive to find the program you've downloaded (in Windows, search for "rp32_g20_3sm.exe" and on MacOS, "RealPlayer Installer") and run it.

From there, all you need to do is click on any of our "Turn It On!" links.

If you want to maximize your RadioValve experience, we strongly recommend you get the Qsound iQ.  With iQ, mono audio streams are converted to 3Dstereo in real time. It also adds an amazingly rich audio texture to MP3 files.  The improvement is dramatic!

Do you want to buy what you are hearing on the 'Valve?

Click on any artist name in a playlist or on the home page to buy that artist's music on CDWorld.

Or use our CDWorld search page to search for the music you want to buy.

  • Javascript errors.
If you see these type of errors, then your browser probably doesn't support Javascript and you need to upgrade to a newer version that supports Javascript version 1.1.  We recommend either Netscape 4.0 and higher or Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 and higher.
  • Static or Hissing Noises.

  • Static is caused by bandwidth problems.  When there is not enough bandwidth for the RealAudio stream, the player cannot maintain a buffer and you get the hissing noises.  The RealPlayer G2 has been enhanced to minimize hissing so upgrade if you are running a lower version.  If you still have problems, try to reduce bandwidth contention.  For instance, don't surf the web while listening if you only have a 28.8 connection.
  • Stuck behind a firewall?

  • If you are on the Internet via your office or campus high-speed line, but cannot connect to our audio stream, you may be behind a "firewall." RealNetworks offers information for users and administrators on how to make their software work with a firewall.
  • RealAudio Error #50 Cannot open audio device.

  • If this error occurs, you are probably having a sound card conflict.  If you are running a game or other software that is playing sound, exit that application and "Turn It On" again.
  • RealAudio Error #14 Requested file not found.

  • What about that "Error 14" message? Yes, the files really are there; you still have a bit of a problem, but the message is a little misleading. We have dedicated a separate page to that one.
  • Other RealAudio Errors.

  • If you have the latest RealPlayer installed and running, and receive some specific error message or number, you can look it up on the RealPlayer Errors Page.
  • Still having problems?

  • If you are still having trouble connecting after following these steps, you can call us at (303) 442-6586 and we'll be happy to help as much as we can. You can also send email to support@radiovalve.com with a description of your setup and problem and we can do our best to help walk you through it.
